ABOUT

I have just completed my four years of study at Birmingham City
University specialising in Fashion Design. Throughout the four years I have gained an array of skills within the field of fashion, these
including skills gained through my studies as well as industry
experiences. What I admire about fashion design is the creations I produce from using an array of unique concepts. I especially like working with a couple of concepts and see how they can interact with each other to create something exclusive. My most current collection, ‘Strike a Romance’ focused on two pivotal events of the 1980s. One being a personal experience to me and then the other, a subculture. Each concept reflected ideas of both masculinity and femininity, so this inspired me to reflect on creating a non – gendered collection. Working with computer aided designs is also another part of fashion I relish working in, especially creating visual outcomes for my
collections. Whether this is being a look book or creating a portfolio to help bring the collection across to the public.
Studying at Birmingham City University gave me many opportunities to find industry experience. I selected to do the placement year
between my second and final year as I wanted to gain as many
experiences as I could to help both with understanding what my main skills were and to see what environment suited me best. My industry experiences have also helped in understanding the different paths that can be taken after graduating.
